The City Council of Antequera and the clubs in the city offer over 1,600 places in 14 municipal sports schools for the 2026-2027 season. Registration is managed through each responsible entity.
The Deputy Mayor for Sports of the City Council of Antequera, Juan Rosas, presented this Tuesday, September 29, the new season of the Municipal Sports Schools, which will offer over 1,600 places spread across 14 disciplines for the 2026-2027 academic year. The initiative is developed in collaboration with sports entities in the city.
The available schools include karate, adapted sports, swimming, athletics, handball, basketball, volleyball, futsal, football 7, equestrian, tennis, badminton, padel, and rhythmic gymnastics. Activities are distributed across various sports facilities in Antequera.
Among the new features of this edition is the inclusion of badminton, which regains its presence in the local sports offer. Rosas recalled the practice of this discipline years ago at the Los Colegiales institute and thanked those who have made the new school possible. Sessions will be held on Mondays at the Pabellón Agustín Rodríguez, through Badminton Antequera.
Another addition is the management of the padel school by the Andalusian Padel Federation, linked to its new phase at the helm of the Centro Deportivo La Quinta and the relocation of its headquarters to Antequera. Rosas valued this addition as an opportunity to further enhance the teaching of this sport in the city.
The councillor highlighted the work of the adapted sports school, managed by Sobre 2 Ruedas, which is free and facilitates the integration of its participants into other schools in the program. Rosas described it as "our crown jewel."
"The best legacy we can give our children is that one day they become athletes at one level or another, but that they continue to practice sports until the last days of their lives," Rosas stated.
The municipal official defended that the youngest should be able to know and combine different disciplines, with sessions organized to facilitate participation in various sports throughout the week. Registrations are managed through the clubs responsible for each school. The poster for the 2026-2027 season lists the organizing entities, the days of activity, and the facilities for each discipline.
