The City Council of Antequera is organising a workshop on online hate on July 8, on the occasion of International LGTBI+ Pride Day. The activity is free and requires prior registration.
Next Wednesday, July 8, Antequera will host a workshop focused on preventing hate speech on social media, as part of the commemoration of International LGTBI+ Pride Day. The initiative, driven by the Departments of Family and Equity and Youth, will take place in the auditorium of Social Services starting at 19:00 hours.
The delegated councillor for Family and Equity, María Sierras, has detailed that the workshop will be led by the CREANDA association, which specialises in youth and new technologies. “From the areas of Equity, Family and Youth of the City Council of Antequera, we are going to develop a workshop on hate on social media led by CREANDA, to commemorate International LGTBI+ Pride Day,” she explained.
The aim of the workshop is to provide a space for reflection and awareness on the responsible use of social media, the identification and prevention of hate speech, and the promotion of respect and coexistence. In a context where online harassment and discriminatory messages have increased, especially towards vulnerable groups such as the LGTBI+, this activity aims to equip attendees with tools to detect and combat these behaviours.
To participate, prior registration is required, which can be done between July 2 and 7. Interested parties can sign up in person at the Youth House during morning hours, or by sending an email to cim@antequera.es or cij@antequera.es. The activity is free and open to all citizens.
María Sierras has encouraged participation, emphasising the importance of continuing to promote activities that contribute to social awareness and respect for diversity. “We invite everyone to participate in this activity so that we can continue to commemorate this very important day,” she concluded.
This workshop adds to other initiatives by the City Council of Antequera in the field of equality and diversity, such as school campaigns to prevent bullying or awareness workshops in high schools. The Youth Department has also previously organised talks on cybersecurity and responsible internet use, aimed at teenagers and young people.
The event is on July 8 at 19:00 hours in the auditorium of Social Services, located on Calzada Street. Places are limited, so early registration is recommended.
