The traditional religious and popular event will take place this Friday, August 14, with mass at the Plaza de Toros and a subsequent pilgrimage to the hermitage.
The Area of Traditions of the Antequera City Council has confirmed the celebration of the traditional mass and subsequent pilgrimage in honour of the Most Holy Christ of Veronica this Friday, August 14, one of the most anticipated events in the city's summer calendar.
The day will begin at 20:00 at the Plaza de Toros de Antequera, where the Eucharist will be officiated with musical participation from the Rocío Choir of Antequera. At the end of the mass, the medal of the Christ of Veronica will be presented to devotees and collaborators in recognition of their connection to this celebration.
After the ceremony, the pilgrimage of the image to its hermitage will commence. The route will start from the bullring and will pass through Puerta de Estepa, Avenida Periodista Ángel Guerrero, and Cuesta de Talavera, until reaching the hermitage of the Christ of Veronica.
The organisation is managed by the Parish Group of Devotees of the Most Holy Christ of Veronica, with the collaboration of the Antequera City Council. The Area of Traditions invites the people of Antequera, devotees, and visitors to join a day that combines devotion, tradition, and community around one of the most deeply rooted devotions in the locality.
This event presents an opportunity to enjoy one of the most unique urban pilgrimages in the province, which each year gathers hundreds of faithful in a festive and reflective atmosphere.
