The Torremolinos Town Hall has scheduled an evening of free activities to celebrate the opening of the renovated Plaza de la Nogalera, a key space in the town centre. The official event will take place on Thursday, July 23 at 22:00 hours.

The new Plaza de la Nogalera, located in the heart of Torremolinos, will open its doors on Thursday, July 23 following a major renovation that transforms it into a modern, accessible and safe space. The Town Hall has prepared a programme of free activities starting at 19:00 hours to celebrate the revitalisation of one of the busiest spots in the municipality, frequented daily by thousands of locals and tourists.

A key renovation for the urban centre

The intervention in the plaza has been one of the main urban regeneration projects undertaken in Torremolinos. According to municipal sources, the aim was to provide this strategic point with improvements in accessibility and safety, considering that it connects with the commuter train station and houses numerous shops and terraces. The work has transformed a space that many locals considered outdated into an open area adapted to current needs.

The works have included the renewal of the pavement, the installation of new street furniture, and the improvement of lighting, in order to make it more attractive and functional. The Town Hall has emphasised that the plaza regains its role as a meeting point for the social and commercial life of the town.

Activity programme for all ages

The inauguration will begin at 19:00 hours with entertainment in various areas of the centre. In the Plaza de la Nogalera itself, five children's workshops inspired by the play 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' will be set up, providing a playful experience for the little ones. At 21:00 hours, singer Jassy Ojeda will perform, and at 22:00 hours the official opening ceremony will take place, after which two DJs will entertain the night with the show 'Recreo' until 23:30 hours.

The celebration will extend to other points in Torremolinos. In the Plaza de Andalucía, there will be a market and musical entertainment from 19:00 to 00:00 hours, while in the Plaza Costa del Sol, the Torremolinos LGTBI Choir, Lucía Barroso with 'The Royal Family', and dancer Manuel Roldán will perform. Avenida Palma de Mallorca will become a fashion runway with live hairdressing demonstrations from 20:00 to 21:30 hours, featuring local establishments.

Additionally, Calle San Miguel will showcase special decorations throughout the day, and there will be roaming entertainment with ten fantastic characters themed around flowers and magic that will roam the town centre. Passages such as Pizarro, Cauce, and Antonio Girón will also feature ambient music.

A boost for local commerce and tourism

The renovation of the Plaza de la Nogalera not only enhances urban aesthetics but also aims to stimulate the local economy. Being a mandatory passage point for those using the commuter train and for tourists visiting the area, the improvements aim to attract more visitors and support local businesses. Traders on Calle San Miguel and nearby areas have expressed their satisfaction with the refurbishment of this space, which had seen a reduction in customer flow during the works.

The Town Hall has reminded that the investment made is part of a broader plan for the rehabilitation of public spaces in Torremolinos, with the goal of improving the quality of life for residents and the experience of those visiting the municipality. The new plaza, with its accessible design, stands as an example of how to adapt urban planning to the demands of a tourist city.

An event not to be missed

Those interested can consult the complete programme of activities on the Torremolinos Tourism website. The event is on Thursday, July 23, starting at 19:00 hours, with the official inauguration at 22:00 hours. Entry is free for all audiences. An opportunity to rediscover a space that, with its new image, promises to be the vibrant heart of Torremolinos.
