The spokesperson for IU-Podemos in Torremolinos, David Tejeiro, denounces the poor condition of the access to the parking lot of the La Carihuela health centre. The council unanimously approves urging the Junta to repair it.
The rear parking lot of the La Carihuela health centre, located on Eurosol street in Torremolinos, is riddled with potholes and has a poorly maintained access despite the heavy flow of vehicles from residents and users. This has been reported by IU-Podemos, whose municipal spokesperson, David Tejeiro, presented a motion at the last council meeting to demand its improvement, as published by Diario Sur.
The initiative received the affirmative vote of all councillors, so it will be forwarded to the Health Department, as the land is owned by the Junta de Andalucía. The PSOE highlighted the timeliness of the demand, while Vox, despite voting in favour, noted that the condition is not as dire. The governing team of the PP limited the problems to the access.
“The investment fell short, just like the cars due to the potholes at the entrance to the parking lot,” Tejeiro pointed out, referring to the expansion of the centre.
The expansion works, inaugurated on October 2, 2025, with a visit from the Andalusian president Juanma Moreno, amounted to 1.4 million euros plus 250,000 euros for equipment. Eleven medical consultations were added, bringing the total to 40, along with a radiology service featuring artificial intelligence.
The project began on November 27, 2023, with an 8-month deadline, but did not open until July 29, 2026, twenty months after the laying of the first stone. The delay generated criticism from the Medical Union and the local PSOE. The centre serves an assigned population of 26,000 people and has 4 family doctors, 4 paediatricians, 13 nurses, and 5 physiotherapists, among other professionals.
