The Junta of Andalucía has held an Agricultural Dialogue Table in Seville, where the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, addressed various topics related to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the agri-food sector.

Debate on the national CAP model

Fernández-Pacheco met with agricultural organizations and agri-food cooperatives to discuss a document sent by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The aim is to reach a consensus on a common position from Andalucía regarding the national CAP model.

The minister highlighted that a critical debate is beginning where key aspects such as governance model and the role of autonomous communities in the development and management of the national and regional collaboration plan must be agreed upon.

Central topics for discussion include income support, green payments, and sectoral interventions, as well as the possibility of crucial decisions being made outside the Ministry of Agriculture.

Initiatives for the agricultural sector

Fernández-Pacheco also communicated that, during July, three technical meetings were held with the sector to promote a consensual position. A questionnaire from the Ministry was provided so that professionals in the sector could contribute their ideas and needs.

Andalucía advocates for a CAP with a strong, stable, and independent budget that guarantees modern and profitable agriculture. At the same time, the situation of the olive oil market and the crisis affecting the rice sector due to rising production costs and imports was discussed.

Finally, the minister announced that the olive crop estimate for 2026/2027 will take place on 29 September in Jaén. This marks an important step in monitoring the agricultural sector in the region.
