The Civil Guard seizes three tonnes of hashish in Huelva

The Civil Guard carried out a significant operation in which it intercepted a drug boat off the coast of Huelva on October 14. This action resulted in the seizure of over 3,000 kg of hashish and the arrest of eight individuals involved in drug trafficking.

Details of the operation

During the morning of October 14, a suspicious vessel was detected thanks to surveillance means. In response, an interception device was activated that combined the efforts of the Provincial Maritime Service of Huelva and a helicopter from the Air Service of the Civil Guard.

Upon locating the drug boat, the agents visually confirmed that it was carrying numerous bundles, presumably bales of hashish. Upon noticing the police presence, the vessel attempted to escape at high speed, performing aggressive maneuvers that endangered both its crew and the agents. In an attempt to dispose of evidence, the occupants threw several fuel canisters into the sea.

Consequences of the intervention

Despite the dangerous maneuvers of the drug traffickers, the interceptor “Río Tiétar” managed to stop the boat, allowing for boarding. In total, the agents seized 76 bales of hashish, weighing 3,040 kg, as well as the rigid-hulled inflatable boat, equipped with four powerful engines.

The detainees face multiple charges, including crimes against public health in its drug trafficking modality, smuggling, endangering collective safety, and serious disobedience to authority.
