The comprehensive rehabilitation of the building in Plaza de los Naranjos will conclude by the end of the year, with improvements in accessibility, security, and energy efficiency.
Marbella's Town Hall, located in Plaza de los Naranjos, is in its final weeks of construction. The comprehensive renovation of the property, which began months ago, is entering its final phase and is expected to be completed before the end of 2026, as confirmed by the City Council.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, visited the facilities to check on the progress of the work and explained that the building "required in-depth action due to the age of its facilities and the limitations it presented both functionally and energetically."
The intervention includes the comprehensive renewal of the air conditioning, the replacement of the exterior carpentry to improve thermal insulation, and a new distribution of spaces to facilitate the daily work of various municipal services.
The project has been made possible thanks to the acquisition of European funding aimed at modernising municipal equipment. Muñoz highlighted that the action will allow "to adapt an emblematic building of the city to the needs of an administration serving a locality of nearly 170,000 inhabitants."
In terms of security, the building has been adapted to current accessibility and fire safety regulations. New protection systems have been incorporated, including an evacuation staircase, and compartmentalisation measures to enhance the safety of a property of approximately 4,000 square metres.
The mayor has thanked the work of the awarded company, technical services, architects, surveyors, and the staff of the Works delegation. She emphasised that "throughout the execution, there has been coordinated work with each department to adapt the spaces to their needs, while maintaining the commitment to preserve the historical elements of the building at all times."
The renewal of the interior facilities includes conduits, materials, and various construction elements. According to Muñoz, this is "a comprehensive rehabilitation that will extend the useful life of the property and improve the working conditions of the municipal staff."
Once the works are completed and the move from the provisional offices is finished, the services of the Secretariat, Intervention, Finance, the support body, and the Mayor's Office, along with the Communication Cabinet and other departments, will return to the Town Hall. "The reorganisation of the spaces will also improve the distribution of the various municipal delegations and promote a more agile and efficient functioning of the administration," she added.
Meanwhile, residents needing to carry out in-person procedures will have to continue going to the provisional offices set up by the City Council until the return to the historic building is complete.
