The comprehensive renovation works of the Lorenzo Morito Romero avenue in San Pedro Alcántara are entering their final weeks. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, expects the road to be completed in November.

The comprehensive renovation of Lorenzo Morito Romero avenue, in San Pedro Alcántara, is in its final stretch. The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, visited the works, accompanied by the deputy mayor of San Pedro, Javier García, and noted that the forecast is for the project to be "completed in the coming weeks and that we will have this new road in November."

The intervention completes the urbanisation of a road of 1.2 kilometres that connects the area of the Ronda road with the La Quinta urbanisation and which, according to Muñoz, "was a very necessary project on one of the most important roads in San Pedro" due to its high traffic intensity. The mayor specified that this route is used both by local residents and by people from Nueva Andalucía who use it to access the urban centre.

The project includes 2,100 square metres of new pavements and the resurfacing of 6,500 square metres of road, using 800 tonnes of asphalt. "Not only will pavements be provided on both sides, but efficient lighting with LED technology will also be installed," Muñoz indicated.

The intervention includes 1,150 linear metres of new lighting channels and 660 metres of telecommunications network. It also incorporates measures to reduce vehicle speed and facilitate pedestrian crossings, improvements in drainage, and the installation of 195 metres of containment barrier in the section near the slope towards the AP-7. The project will be completed with the renewal of horizontal signage and the placement of 40 vertical signs.

The works have been carried out while keeping traffic open throughout the construction period, which has been affected by rainfall and the summer period. Muñoz framed this intervention within a set of initiatives to complete development processes and improve the infrastructure of various areas of the city: "These are mainly works in the northern area of Marbella, in urbanisations that were not fully completed and require this type of intervention."
