The Marbella City Council has signed an agreement with the Sampedreña Association of Rehabilitated Alcoholics to maintain its activities in San Pedro Alcántara. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has formalised the agreement with the president of the organisation, Carmen Jiménez.

The Sampedreña Association of Rehabilitated Alcoholics will continue to provide support to people with alcohol and other addiction problems in San Pedro Alcántara thanks to the collaboration agreement signed with the Marbella City Council. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has signed the agreement with the president of the organisation, Carmen Jiménez, as reported by the council.

The first deputy mayor of San Pedro Alcántara, Javier García, has stated that the initiative represents a renewal of the municipal commitment to an entity that has been helping people in need for decades. García recalled that the association has been working since 1992 on the recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration of users, as well as developing prevention measures and reducing risks associated with addictions.

“Their work goes far beyond treatment, as they also provide companionship, guidance, and support to families, who are often the first to seek help.”

The municipal official has thanked the work of professionals, volunteers, and collaborators of the organisation and emphasised that people going through these situations should know that they have a resource to turn to and that they will be supported throughout their recovery process.

The president of Sampedreña, Carmen Jiménez, has explained that municipal support is essential to ensure the continuity of their activities. “When help comes, we see the sky opening up because we can move forward and keep our doors open for anyone who comes seeking help,” she stated.

Every year, dozens of people pass through the organisation. The support combines the work of professionals with the companionship of volunteers and support groups. Currently, the association has two psychologists and also receives medical attention through the social rights resources of San Pedro Alcántara. Their programme includes different levels of rehabilitation and specific spaces for families.
