Marbella FC has announced the signing of left-back Víctor Mena, from La Unión Atlético, who signs until 2027. The Sevilla native will reunite with Antonio Calderón, the coach under whom he achieved promotion to Primera RFEF with Balona.
The Marbella FC has secured its first reinforcement for the upcoming season with the addition of left-back Víctor Mena, who signs until June 30, 2027. The 29-year-old player arrives from La Unión Atlético, where he has played the last two seasons in Segunda Federación.
Reunion with Antonio Calderón
Mena's arrival at the Costa del Sol team marks a special reunion with Antonio Calderón, the coach who managed the Sevilla native at Real Balompédica Linense. Under his guidance, Mena was a key player in the promotion to Primera RFEF in the 2020-21 season, starting 14 matches after arriving in the winter transfer window from Melilla.
The defender, originally from Los Palacios y Villafranca, was trained in the youth academy of Sevilla FC and has accumulated over 240 official matches between Primera Federación and Segunda RFEF. His experience and knowledge of the category have been decisive for Marbella to invest in him.
Career at Balona
In his first full season in Primera RFEF (2021-22), Mena participated in 35 matches, 29 as a starter, accumulating over 2,500 minutes and scoring two goals. His contribution was crucial in securing survival on the final matchday against Andorra.
The 2022-23 campaign also began with him as a member of the albinegra squad, but in the winter transfer window, he ended his time at La Línea after playing 15 matches. His farewell was emotional, with recognition from teammates, coaching staff, and executives.
After leaving Balona, he joined UCAM Murcia before moving to La Unión Atlético, where he has played the last two seasons in Segunda Federación. He now makes the leap to Marbella, which competes in the same category.
A reliable reinforcement
With over 240 official matches, Víctor Mena is one of the most experienced left-backs in Segunda Federación. His signing strengthens Marbella's defence for the upcoming season, in which the team will seek to improve its performance.
The Costa del Sol club has highlighted the proven track record of the player, who will bring defensive solidity and experience in a category where details make the difference. Marbella fans will be able to see him in action starting from pre-season, the schedule for which will be announced soon.
