Marbella paid tribute this Friday to local police officer Fernando Domínguez Macías with a street in San Pedro Alcántara that will now bear his name. The event was attended by family, colleagues from the force, friends, and residents of the town.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, stated during her speech that "no plaque can replace a person, but what it can leave is the evidence of respect and recognition from the entire city."
"No plaque can replace a person, but what it can leave is the evidence of respect and recognition from the entire city"
Muñoz recalled that Domínguez Macías joined the Local Police of Marbella in 1991 and highlighted that he developed his career "with responsibility, discipline, and commitment to public service." The mayor also emphasized the appreciation his colleagues had for his work, his prudence, his ability to resolve complex situations, and his willingness to collaborate.
The mayor described the honoree as "an outgoing and generous person, someone who gave his all, who could make others smile, a deeply joyful person who conveyed that to others." She also highlighted his connection to sports and his participation in activities representing the Local Police, a facet that reflected "that effort, that overcoming, and that camaraderie."
Alberto Domínguez, the brother of the honoree, thanked the City Council, the authorities, his colleagues from the Local Police, and the residents for their presence. He noted that "this event represents a well-deserved recognition of his career, his work, and his dedication to the community."
"For our family, however, it represents something deeper: a permanent embrace of his memory"
"This street is not just a name. It is a way for his name to continue being part of this town and for him to continue walking among us in some way," added Alberto Domínguez, who emphasized that although he is no longer physically present, he remains in the memories of those who loved him.
The event concluded with the unveiling of the plaque that identifies the new street in San Pedro Alcántara, a municipality where Domínguez Macías had a close personal and professional connection.
