The Marbella City Council increases the budget for activities at the Active Participation Centres by 110%, reaching 370,789 euros. The programme for the 2026/2027 course includes 17 workshops and 13,200 teaching hours.
The City Council of Marbella has approved a new programme of workshops for the Active Participation Centres (CPA) in the municipality, with an investment of 370,789 euros, which represents an increase of more than 110% compared to the 176,882 euros of the previous contract. This was announced by the Councillor for Social Rights, Isabel Cintado, after the Local Government Board meeting held this Tuesday, as reported by Diario Sur.
The activity offer for the 2026/2027 course has received 2,552 applications, a 4% increase compared to last year and a 42% increase compared to 2023. Cintado described the programme as a "record" and highlighted that it "responds to the growth that this programme has experienced over the last four years and to the demand and needs expressed by our seniors."
The workshops, which total 17 modalities, include physical activities such as gymnastics, yoga, pilates, zumba, flamenco gymnastics, and tai chi, as well as memory workshops, sevillanas, ballroom dancing, choir, theatre, crafts, bobbin lace, and oil painting. The Senior Digital programme, aimed at reducing the digital divide among seniors, is also maintained.
The activities will take place between October 20, 2026 and June 25, 2027, with a total of 13,200 hours of teaching (about 400 weekly) over 33 weeks. The new contract, valid for five years, amounts to 1,483,158 euros.
Cintado emphasized that these centres "are much more than a place to hold workshops; they are meeting and coexistence spaces that have a direct impact on well-being and health" and that contribute to addressing "unwanted loneliness." The municipality has increased from four senior centres in 2007 to ten currently.
