The prestigious guide Opinionated About Dining (OAD) has included Areia Marbella and The Grill from Marbella Club in its ranking of the best classic restaurants in Europe for 2026, the only ones from Andalusia on the list.

The international guide Opinionated About Dining (OAD) has published its anticipated 2026 ranking of the best classic restaurants in Europe, and two establishments from the province of Málaga have made it onto the exclusive list. These are Areia Marbella and The Grill from Marbella Club, both located in Marbella, which are the only representatives from all of Andalusia in the classification.

The ranking, which evaluates establishments across the continent, has highlighted these two Marbella businesses for their refined interpretation of Andalusian and Mediterranean flavours, as well as their use of top-quality ingredients and classic culinary techniques. The guide emphasises that both restaurants achieve a balance between tradition and modernity that positions them as benchmarks in Europe.

Areia Marbella: French cuisine with an Andalusian soul

In the 268th position in the European ranking and 8th in Spain is Areia Marbella, a restaurant that already holds a Solete from the Repsol Guide and a Michelin recommendation. Its proposal is rooted in classic French tradition but reinterpreted with a contemporary perspective and a strong Andalusian accent.

The OAD guide particularly praises the work of chef Pablo Berzosa, highlighting that he offers a refined interpretation of Andalusian and Mediterranean flavours. Seasonal dishes such as red prawns with ajoblanco, veal cheek in oloroso glaze, or local fish with a citrus touch are, according to the publication, examples of clean and expressive cuisine.

The restaurant's atmosphere has also been praised:

The fresh and elegant environment, with natural textures, dim lighting, and open spaces, evokes coastal luxury.
Additionally, the guide highlights its select wine list, which includes major regions of Spain, from Ribera del Duero to Jerez, along with international labels.

Areia Marbella is located on Ramón Gómez de la Serna street, next to Marbella's Golden Mile, and is open from Monday to Sunday from 19:00 to 22:00. A destination that, according to OAD,

offers refined and relaxed sophistication, becoming an exceptional destination in Marbella.

The Grill del Marbella Club: classic elegance on the Costa del Sol

The second Málaga restaurant on the list is The Grill del Marbella Club, which has achieved the 450th position in Europe and 14th in Spain. This establishment, located in the iconic Marbella Club hotel, is a classic of Costa del Sol gastronomy that bets on author Mediterranean cuisine with seasonal products.

The OAD guide particularly values its culinary proposal based on classic techniques and its ability to maintain quality over the years. The Grill is known for its distinguished atmosphere and impeccable service, making it a reference for lovers of fine dining in the province.

For Málaga readers, this double distinction represents a source of pride and a confirmation that the Costa del Sol is not only a tourist destination for sun and beach but also a top-level gastronomic hub. Both restaurants are accessible for those wishing to enjoy a unique culinary experience without leaving the province.

The inclusion of Areia Marbella and The Grill in this international ranking reinforces Málaga's position as a culinary destination of reference in Europe. Food lovers now have two perfect excuses to plan a getaway to Marbella and indulge in the best of classic cuisine with an Andalusian flavour.
