The actor has begun the construction of a contemporary design villa on the site of his former home in the Los Monteros urbanisation, demolished in 2024 after a long urban conflict.
Antonio Banderas has put down roots in Marbella again. The Malaga-born actor, who saw his iconic villa 'La Gaviota' demolished in the Los Monteros urbanisation last year, is already working on a new residential project on the same site. Named 'Mi Calle', the future mansion features a contemporary design with large windows, three floors, and open spaces overlooking the Mediterranean.
The new home, located just a few metres from the beach, is being built in one of the most sought-after residential areas of the Costa del Sol, the renowned Golden Mile, which connects the centre of Marbella with Puerto Banús. There, Banderas and his partner, Nicole Kimpel, will enjoy the privacy and enviable climate that characterise this enclave.
From 'La Gaviota' to 'Mi Calle': the end of an urban conflict
The actor's previous home, 'La Gaviota', was demolished in 2024 to end a long urban conflict that had persisted since its construction. The actor did not want to leave this exclusive corner of Marbella and decided to build a new residence on the same site. The project, which is already underway, retains the essence of his refuge on the Costa del Sol.
The new mansion, with its avant-garde design, will feature three floors and large windows that will maximise the views of the Mediterranean. Open spaces will be the main focus, integrating the interior with the exterior in a luxurious and tranquil setting.
Marbella, the luxury destination that captivates celebrities
Marbella is not just home to Antonio Banderas. The Malaga town has established itself as an international benchmark for premium tourism, offering a blend of five-star hotels, fine dining restaurants, and luxury boutiques. However, the city retains the charm of the white Andalusian villages in its historic centre, with narrow streets and squares filled with orange trees.
The climate, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and its 27 kilometres of coastline make it an ideal destination at any time. Among its beaches, those of Nagüeles, Casablanca, Puerto Banús, La Fontanilla, Cabopino, El Cable, and San Pedro Alcántara stand out, many of which have Blue Flag status, a distinction that certifies their environmental quality and services.
Moreover, the Golden Mile, where Banderas' new house is located, is the most exclusive area of Marbella. It is home to some of the most select villas in Spain, with private developments, beach clubs, and top-tier restaurants. Privacy is one of the main attractions, which is why it is no surprise that entrepreneurs, elite athletes, and international celebrities have chosen this corner of the Costa del Sol.
An unbreakable bond with Malaga
Antonio Banderas has maintained a close bond with the province of Malaga throughout his career. In addition to his residence in Marbella, the actor promotes cultural projects in the capital, such as the Soho Theatre, and never misses an opportunity to enjoy the tranquillity offered by the Costa del Sol. His new mansion, 'Mi Calle', is proof that, despite international commitments, he always finds his way back home.
For the residents of Marbella, the construction of this new villa is not only a matter of social interest but also a reflection of the appeal the city continues to hold for major figures. The Golden Mile, with its beaches and services, remains a magnet for those seeking luxury and privacy on the Costa del Sol.
