The councillors for Education and Infrastructure supervise the work prior to the start of the school year at educational centres, nurseries, and CEIP Las Viñas. Half of the works are carried out by local companies and the other half by municipal resources.
The Manilva Town Hall has allocated 200,000 euros for improvement works at the municipality's educational centres before the start of the school year. The councillors for Education and Infrastructure and Works, Laura Salazar and Marcos Ruiz, have visited the schools, nurseries, and CEIP Las Viñas to check the status of the works and plan for their continuation.
The investment is split 50% between local companies and municipal resources. In the schools, interiors and exteriors have been painted, damp issues have been addressed, cracks and peeling have been repaired, and locks, electrical systems, and metalwork on gates and grills have been checked. Whiteboards have also been installed, artificial grass has been laid, existing grass has been repaired, areas with fallen tiles have been re-tiled, and the stormwater network has been cleaned.
Specific actions include the replacement of drip edges and the entrance canopy at the nursery centre in San Luis de Sabinillas; in Maicandil, the repair of the exterior fence facing the municipal park and the replenishment of sand in the sandpit with ground levelling to prevent puddles; and in Pablo Picasso, the installation of new windows in the orientation building and a complete renovation of the bathrooms in the nursery playground.
In the nurseries, both the interior and exterior have been painted, cracks and damp have been repaired, finger guards and protections have been installed, and carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work have been carried out in bathrooms, cisterns, sockets, wiring, and lighting. Loose flooring and tiles have been fixed, skirting boards have been glued, and classrooms have been equipped with whiteboards, projectors, and screens. In Manilva, a psychomotricity classroom has been created; in Sabinillas, the perimeter wall has been repaired; and in El Castillo, materials for the playground have been acquired.
At CEIP Las Viñas, the interior and perimeter of the centre have been pruned and cleared, the parking area has been levelled with gravel and machinery, and a new masonry canopy has been built at the bus stop.
