The Fuengirola City Council has not increased taxes, fees, and public prices since 2008. The budget for tax discounts for registered residents amounts to €4.7 million.
The City Council of Fuengirola has not touched its taxes, fees, and public prices since 2008. This was confirmed by the Councillor for Finance, Rosana Bravo, at a press conference where she detailed that the municipal budget reserves €4.7 million for tax discounts for registered residents.
The main measure is a 30% reduction in the IBI, the waste fee, and the vehicle tax. This percentage is supplemented by an additional 5% for early payment and another 5% for direct debit. According to Bravo, this scheme remains in place despite the increase in prices and the cost of living recorded over these 18 years.
The City Council also applies specific discounts for large families and pensioners, in order to adapt municipal taxation to different personal situations. The councillor linked these aids to the health of public accounts: the City Council claims to maintain zero debt and one of the lowest tax pressures in its environment.

Bravo referred to the new waste fee resulting from state regulations, known as the “garbage tax”. While other municipalities have directly passed the increase onto bills, Fuengirola has chosen to absorb that cost from municipal funds so that it does not reach families.
The councillor attributed the economic solidity to municipal management and the behaviour of local taxpayers.

The City Council maintains that this model allows for the financing of public services and investments without resorting to tax increases. Registered residents in Fuengirola can benefit from the 30% discounts and additional discounts for early payment and direct debit within the usual deadlines for each municipal tax.
