The Sun & Thunder Festival in Fuengirola announces its second edition with Avantasia, Lordi, and Soen as headliners. It will take place from August 27 to 29 at Marenostrum Fuengirola.
The Sun & Thunder Festival returns to Fuengirola with a second edition promising three days of heavy metal by the Mediterranean. From August 27 to 29, the Marenostrum Fuengirola venue will host bands such as Avantasia, Lordi, and Soen, among others, in a format that avoids scheduling overlaps.
The festival's main attraction is Avantasia, the rock opera and metal project led by Tobias Sammet, which will offer its only concert in Spain during the world tour 'Here Be Dragons'. The band has announced that it will take an extended break after this tour, making the event on the Costa del Sol one of the last opportunities to see them live.
Avantasia will showcase a large-scale production with theatricality and epicness, accompanied by an international cast of guest vocalists. Notable among them are Tommy Karevik (Kamelot), Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids), Kenny Leckremo (H.E.A.T.), Bob Catley (Magnum), Adrienne Cowan (Seven Spires), Chiara Tricarico (Moonlight Haze), and Herbie Langhans (Firewind, Heaven's Gate).
Sammet himself has sent a message to fans: 'Before Avantasia takes an extended break from touring, we unite once more... If you want to lose yourself in the magic, the time is now.'
Another highly anticipated performance is by Lordi, the masters of horror rock, who will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their album 'The Arockalypse' during their only visit to Spain scheduled for this year. Their show, featuring unmistakable monsters and a theatrical stage presence, will include classics such as 'Hard Rock Hallelujah'.
The festival will also feature Soen, a Swedish band that has established itself as one of the references in contemporary progressive metal. Their technical and emotional style promises to be one of the most intense moments of the event.
One of the most unique proposals comes from Eivør, the Faroese artist who fuses folk, electronic music, and a unique voice inspired by the landscapes of the Faroe Islands. Her concert in Fuengirola will be one of the festival's most special performances.
The lineup also includes bands such as Primal Fear, Destruction, Harakiri For The Sky, Gaerea, All For Metal, Calva Louise, AMH, Nefarious, and Déble, among others. The organization has highlighted the variety of styles within metal, ranging from power metal to black metal, including symphonic rock.
The Sun & Thunder Festival takes place at Marenostrum Fuengirola, an outdoor venue located next to the promenade, offering sea views and a privileged atmosphere. The festival format, with three days and no overlaps, allows attendees to enjoy all the bands without missing any concert.
The organization has expressed gratitude for the support from the Fuengirola City Council, the Provincial Council of Málaga, and the Junta de Andalucía for making this second edition possible.
