Benalmádena Town Hall, through Innoben, has renewed the agreement with Leisure Parks for registered residents to access the Cable Car for free on the last weekend of each month until February 2027.
Residents registered in Benalmádena will continue to enjoy the Cable Car for free over the next two years. The Town Hall, through the municipal company Innoben, has renewed the collaboration agreement with Leisure Parks, the company managing the cable car, to continue the 'Residents' Day' programme.
The agreement, signed by the mayor and executive president of Innoben, Juan Antonio Lara, and the representative of Leisure Parks, will allow residents to access the cable car at no cost on the last weekend of each month until February 28, 2027. The initiative, which was previously launched, has been very well received by the public, according to municipal sources.
During the presentation of the agreement, the mayor highlighted that this measure puts residents back at the centre of municipal action. 'We want our residents to feel the Cable Car as something of their own and to rediscover the extraordinary natural heritage we have at Monte Calamorro,' Lara stated.
For her part, the councillor for Tourism and CEO of Innoben, Presi Aguilera, emphasised that her department continues to support initiatives that bring tourist resources closer to residents. 'They are also the best ambassadors for Benalmádena. This programme allows many families to enjoy a unique experience while reinforcing the sense of belonging to the municipality,' she noted.
To benefit from the promotion, residents registered in Benalmádena must first request an access code via email at empadronados@innoben.es. Innoben will verify the registration and provide the necessary codes to redeem the free round-trip ticket on the Cable Car's website. However, the number of places is limited: a maximum of 500 tickets will be distributed per day.
The agreement also includes special conditions for the summer months. During July and August, those wishing to enjoy the 'Magical Nights of the Cable Car' from 19:00 hours will only need to pay the night supplement set by the managing company. That is, the free pass covers the round trip during daylight hours, but not the special night activity.
In addition to free access, the agreement includes the promotion of the Cable Car through various municipal advertising supports. The aim is to strengthen the dissemination of one of Benalmádena's main tourist attractions and consolidate cooperation between the Town Hall and the private company. The mayor valued public-private collaboration as an example that it is possible to generate beneficial agreements for both parties and, above all, for the citizens.
The Benalmádena Cable Car, which connects the coastal area with the summit of Monte Calamorro, is one of the municipality's tourist symbols. From its cabins, panoramic views of the Costa del Sol can be enjoyed, and on clear days, even the African coast can be seen. At the summit, visitors can enjoy a theme park with birds of prey, trails, and viewpoints.
With this renewal, the Town Hall seeks to promote knowledge and enjoyment of this natural resource among the residents themselves, while strengthening the community's bond with its environment. The initiative also represents savings for Benalmádena families, who can plan a weekend excursion without transportation costs.
