Benalmádena City Council has resolved the grant call for businesses affected by the works at Plaza de España and Santo Domingo street: 85% of applicants will receive it, with a total allocation of €71,000.

The Benalmádena City Council has granted aid to 85% of the businesses that applied for the subsidy aimed at compensating for the inconveniences caused by the works carried out in the vicinity of Plaza de España and Santo Domingo street, in Benalmádena Pueblo. The measure is financed with a budget of €71,000 provided through a credit supplement.

Of the total beneficiaries, half will receive 100% of the requested aid. In the other cases, the amounts granted range between €3,800 and €9,300, depending on the justified amounts and what is established in the call's bases.

The mayor, Juan Antonio Lara, has pointed out that the council was aware that a project of this magnitude could affect the daily activities of the establishments:

“We are aware that an action of this magnitude generates inconveniences and can impact the daily activities of our businesses. Therefore, from the very beginning, we were clear that we could not limit ourselves to transforming and improving this environment, but we also had to stand by those who keep our local commerce alive.”

Lara added that the aid responds to the commitment made to the merchants:

“This aid responds to the commitment we made to the affected merchants. We continue to work to modernize our public spaces, but doing so alongside our merchants, listening to their needs and supporting them throughout the process.”

With this call, Benalmádena City Council balances the improvement of public spaces with measures to reduce the impact of the works on local businesses. Payments will be processed according to the approved bases and the amounts already justified by each establishment.
