The mayor of Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara, has called for more human and material resources and modern facilities for the National Police during the celebration of the Guardians Angels, the patron saints of the force.
This year's celebration of the Guardians Angels, the patrons of the National Police, brought together agents, authorities, and representatives of the Security Forces and Bodies in Benalmádena. The events began with a mass at the Church of Carmen in Benalmádena Costa and continued with the institutional ceremony at the Hotel Alay.
The meeting was attended by the mayor of Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara; the mayor of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid; and the chief commissioner of the National Police for the area shared by both municipalities, Antonio de Haro Calderón.
During his speech, Lara demanded that the efforts of the agents be accompanied by a firm commitment from the competent administrations. "More human resources and also more material resources are necessary for the agents to perform their work under the best possible conditions," he stated.
The mayor linked this need to the continued growth of population and visitors experienced by Benalmádena and Torremolinos, and defended that security is a fundamental element for the development and quality of life of any city.
Lara focused on the project for the future National Police station for the area and highlighted the work of the mayor of Torremolinos to make land available for these facilities. He expressed his confidence that construction could begin as soon as possible and conveyed his willingness to collaborate with the Government of Spain on "a necessary project for Benalmádena, Torremolinos, and the entire Costa del Sol."
The mayor also valued the coordination between security bodies, recalling that a week earlier the same Hotel Alay hosted the celebration of the patron of the Local Police of Benalmádena. This cooperation "is necessary, yields results, and must continue to do so," he affirmed.
The institutional event included recognition for police officers who have stood out over the past year for actions that represent the values of the Corps. The mayor described these professionals as "a source of pride for the Corps and for our two cities" due to their effort, dedication, and commitment.
The celebration is organized alternately between Benalmádena and Torremolinos, the two municipalities that share police jurisdiction.
