The Civil Guard is investigating the violent death of a woman, found this Tuesday in a home in Benahavís. This is the second case in the province of Málaga in less than 24 hours, following the incident recorded on Monday in Antequera.
The body of a woman was located this Tuesday in a home in Benahavís with signs of violence, according to the Civil Guard, which has taken charge of the investigation. The discovery comes just 24 hours after another 30-year-old woman was found dead in Antequera, also with stab wounds.
Ongoing Investigation in Benahavís
Officers are working to clarify the circumstances of the death and no further details about the victim's identity or possible arrests have been released at this time. The Civil Guard is keeping all lines of investigation open, although the priority is to determine if this is a new case of gender-based violence.
The incident has shocked the residents of Benahavís, a municipality on the Costa del Sol that has seen a population increase in recent years. The town, with around 9,000 inhabitants, has not experienced a crime of this nature in the last decade.
Antequera: The First Death in 24 Hours
On Monday, around 14:00, the emergency services 112 received a report of the death of a 30-year-old woman in a home in Antequera. The National Police is investigating the case and is considering the hypothesis that it may be a misogynistic murder. On the same day, a 35-year-old man fell from the wall of the Alcazaba of Antequera, and investigators suggest that both were a couple and had two children together.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that the couple had been registered in the VioGén system and that a restraining order was in place against the man, although the file was closed by mutual agreement some time ago, meaning the measure was no longer in effect. The Government Subdelegation in Málaga is gathering information to forward to the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, which will determine if the case is considered a misogynistic murder.
Gender Violence Data in 2026
If the misogynistic nature of both crimes is confirmed, Andalucía would record its ninth fatality from gender violence in 2026, and Spain would reach 30 murdered women, according to official records. Since statistics began in 2003, a total of 1,371 women have been murdered due to gender violence in the country.
In recent hours, two cases have also been reported outside Andalucía: in Alameda de la Sagra (Toledo), the Civil Guard has arrested a man following the death of his wife from a stabbing, and in Almoradí (Alicante), the death of a woman is being investigated as a possible misogynistic murder, with her partner arrested.
