The Civil Guard has carried out a significant operation in Punta Umbría, Huelva, where they managed to recover over 800 kilos of cocaine. The operation took place on August 9, 2026, after pursuing a rigid-hulled inflatable boat attempting to evade police action.

The events began when information was received about a boat approaching the Huelva locality, which was carrying a suspicious load. In response to the alert, a patrol boat from the Provincial Maritime Service of Huelva immediately headed to the area to investigate the situation.

Upon detecting the presence of the patrol boat, the crew of the vessel fled, throwing packages into the sea in an attempt to dispose of the drugs. Despite their maneuver, the agents managed to recover a total of 27 bales containing cocaine.

The total weight of the recovered drugs amounts to over 800 kilograms. Following the intervention, the packages were transported to police facilities for analysis and further investigation.

The authorities continue with the necessary inquiries to clarify all details related to this attempted drug trafficking in the area.
