Four individuals arrested for the theft and mistreatment of greyhounds in Seville

The Civil Guard has carried out an operation in Seville that resulted in the arrest of four individuals for the theft of eight racing greyhounds and the mistreatment of two of them.

Details of the operation

The events occurred in Bollullos de la Mitación, where the owner of a farm reported the theft of these dogs, which were registered for national competitions. Following the report, an investigation was initiated that revealed the existence of an organized group specialized in this type of crime.

The Civil Guard, after obtaining relevant information, was able to identify the group members, who resided in the Las Tres Mil Viviendas neighbourhood of Seville. As a result of the operation, all the stolen greyhounds were recovered and returned to their rightful owner.

Conditions of the recovered animals

During the recovery, it was confirmed that two of the greyhounds had suffered injuries because their subcutaneous identification microchips had been removed, a procedure carried out to conceal their origin. These animals required veterinary assistance.

The ROCA Team from Sanlúcar La Mayor was responsible for conducting this investigation. The detainees have been placed at the disposal of judicial authorities, facing charges of robbery with violence, serious injuries, animal mistreatment, and belonging to an organized group.
