The former president of the Junta, Manuel Chaves, and the mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, gathered the socialist members from Cádiz at the Fair to start the pre-campaign for the 2027 municipal elections.
The former president of the Junta of Andalusia, Manuel Chaves, has reappeared in San Roque to kick off the socialist pre-campaign ahead of the electoral dates in 2027. At an event with party members held at the local Fair, Chaves and the mayor and secretary general of the PSOE in San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, set the party's strategy for the upcoming elections, which include municipal and regional elections.
During his speech, Chaves warned the base that "these will not be easy elections" and emphasised the need to "work from this moment to face both events with the utmost guarantees." The former socialist leader insisted that the main strength of the PSOE lies in the municipalities, asserting that "the great strength of the PSOE is the municipalities and local governments" due to their ability to respond to the everyday problems of citizens.
The former president also called for internal unity as the key to electoral success. "A cohesive and strong party allows us to concentrate all efforts on defending its policies and responding to the needs of citizens," he stated, linking that cohesion to the continuity of the measures of Pedro Sánchez's Government.
For his part, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix specified the timelines for this territorial offensive and outlined the immediate tasks of the formation: "Present a good balance of the management carried out, explain everything we have achieved and, above all, offer the neighbours the best future project." The San Roque mayor focused on revalidating the mayoralty with broad support to ensure political stability over the next four years.
Ruiz Boix concluded his speech by distancing himself from backroom deals: "We want to win widely, but our goal cannot be limited to winning an election. We want to renew our pact with the neighbours of San Roque, because that is the only pact that matters to us."
The event is part of a broader strategy by the Andalusian PSOE to activate local power ahead of 2027, with a focus on associations and provincial councils. The socialists believe that the proximity of municipalities will be crucial to consolidating support and keeping the party in the Government of Spain.
