Presenter Beatriz Archidona is preparing for the premiere of 'De lunes a viernes' on July 6 on Telecinco, an afternoon magazine show she will co-direct with Santi Acosta. Archidona claims to be "very happy" with the audience of 'De viernes' despite the competition from 'Tu cara me suena'.

Beatriz Archidona has a new professional challenge ahead. The presenter, one of the most recognised faces of Mediaset, will take the helm of 'De lunes a viernes', the magazine show that will occupy Telecinco's afternoons starting July 6. She will do so alongside Santi Acosta, her partner on 'De viernes', with whom she already forms "a television marriage of three years", as Archidona herself confesses.

The new programme aims to adapt the formula of the successful nighttime show to a time slot that requires a more relaxed and colloquial tone. "We are going to transfer that essence to the afternoons, but with a different rhythm, different content, and different collaborators," explains the journalist, who approaches this new stage with "a lot of excitement and eagerness".

Competition in prime time

Archidona does not hide her satisfaction with the results of 'De viernes', which has been on air for three years and has established itself as a reference for heart interviews in prime time. However, she acknowledges that the competition is tough. "I am very happy with the figures we are achieving, especially because it is a very complicated time slot. We have the titan of 'Tu cara me suena' in front of us, which is watched all over Spain, and I can't wait for it to end already," she laughs. She adds, "And now, we also have football."

The presenter, who wakes up every Saturday between 7:30 and 7:45 despite the fatigue, assures that she faces the ratings with perspective. "You have to look at things in perspective, and it has been almost three years since the audience has been with us," she points out.

A renewed team unafraid of comparisons

The new magazine will feature a team of collaborators, including the return of Karmele Marchante, whom Archidona describes as "enthusiastic" and eager to return. "She had already come to 'De viernes', did an interview, and participated in a debate on Supervivientes. She told me she was very keen to come back and that the moment was now," she explains.

When asked about the inevitable comparisons with other programmes on the channel, such as 'Sálvame', Archidona remains calm. "I completely understand the comparisons because how many years have heart programmes been on air? Tómbola, Salsa Rosa... In the magazines of the channel and others, there are heart sections, so it's normal to make comparisons. I am not bothered by them at all," she asserts.

The presenter defends that the audience already knows her style and that of her team. "Sálvame has been on air for many years, and it is normal to compare. But the audience already knows us, they know how we work on 'De viernes', and we are going to transfer that essence to the afternoons, but with a different rhythm, different content, and different collaborators," she insists.

A challenge with excitement and self-criticism

Archidona acknowledges that the channel is not going through its best moment, but she prefers to focus on the positives. "I don't know if you can live off excitement, but it helps a lot in day-to-day life. You know when a programme or an interview has been good. For me, as long as 'De lunes a viernes' has strong original content and we defend it in the most dignified way possible, that's enough," she states.

The journalist claims she does not set a specific audience target because it would be "absurd". "The challenge has been to achieve the mix of collaborators we have, to be there every day from Monday to Friday, to have been with 'De viernes' for three years, and to get the guests that the programme has had. All the current events in the heart have been present on our programme," she highlights.

Regarding criticism, Archidona states that it does not affect her, although she distinguishes between professional and personal critiques. "When it’s criticism about the programme, I find it normal. When it’s criticism about physical qualities, that seems out of place to me. Moreover, they tend to be about women. It bothers and outrages me because I can't believe that is pointed out," she denounces.

The presenter has also reflected on her evolution in 'De viernes', where she has gained prominence and opinion. "I came from the mornings, where a different type of content is made and where information is approached differently. 'De viernes' has been a learning experience and an evolution. If the guest gets emotional and I get emotional, why shouldn't I show that to the audience? Why shouldn't I give my opinion?" she questions.

The premiere of 'De lunes a viernes' is scheduled for July 6, and it promises to be one of the television events of the summer. Viewers will be able to follow the programme from Monday to Friday in the afternoons on Telecinco.
