The Nerja Town Council has presented the programme for 'Summer in the Cangrejos' and 'Summer in Maro' 2026, featuring 56 free activities that will take place between July and August.
Plaza de los Cangrejos and the district of Maro will become the cultural epicentres of Nerja this summer. The Town Council has scheduled 56 free activities to be held from July 4 to August 29, with offerings for all audiences.
The Deputy Mayor, Ángela Díaz, and the Councillor for Culture, Ana María Muñoz, have presented a programme that combines music, theatre, dance, flamenco, magic, and children's activities. The goal is to provide an accessible leisure alternative for both residents and tourists visiting the municipality during the summer season.
Music and Shows in Plaza de los Cangrejos
The programme in Plaza de los Cangrejos will kick off on July 20 and will run until August 25. Among the confirmed artists are Manuel “Aire y Compás”, Paco “El Apañao”, Ángela Muñoz, Dana Andrews & Gianni Piras, Mar Salá, Dúo Mijtana, Nexo, Betty Loop, José Luis Fernández, and Platero y Lola. Local academies, collectives, and cultural associations will also participate.
Attendees will be able to enjoy jazz, pop, copla, and flamenco concerts, as well as dance and theatre performances. Magic will also have its space, with shows designed for family audiences. All activities are free and will be held outdoors, taking advantage of the summer weather.
Maro Hosts the II Festival of Choirs of Axarquía
The district of Maro, for its part, will start its programme on July 4 and will continue until August 29. The village square will be the main stage, with the II Festival of Choirs of Axarquía as the highlight. Choral groups from various municipalities in the region will gather for this event, which aims to establish itself as a regular fixture in the cultural calendar.
Additionally, there will be musical performances, family theatre, and Saturday street parties featuring Plácido. The dance group of Christian David Callejón and the Folkloric Group of Nerja and Maro will also provide exhibitions. The theatrical performances will take place at the Home of Maro, completing an offer that seeks to energise the cultural life of the district.
The Culture Department encourages residents and visitors to participate in this extensive free offer. The programme solidifies Nerja and Maro as two of the main cultural stages of the summer on the Costa del Sol, combining the participation of local artists with proposals for all audiences. For the Town Council, this is a commitment to accessible and quality culture, which helps to seasonally adjust tourism and provide leisure alternatives for residents.
Those interested can check the complete programme on the Nerja Town Council website or on the social media of the Culture Department. Activities will be held outdoors, so it is recommended to arrive early to find a spot, especially on the busiest nights.
