The Ronda City Council has begun work to expand the playground at the Fuerte, which will increase from 100 to 220 square metres, with an investment of 58,829 euros and new equipment.
The Ronda City Council has started the expansion and renovation works of the playground at the Fuerte, an action that will more than double its current size. The area will increase from the current 100 square metres to about 220, according to municipal forecasts.
The project, which has an investment of 58,829 euros, is part of the municipal programme to improve children's areas in the city. The work includes the recovery of the existing space, which showed signs of deterioration, and its expansion towards the square located immediately above.
In the current area, the equipment that can be salvaged will be repaired, and a new continuous rubber flooring will be installed to enhance safety. A second play area will be added, utilising part of the adjacent surface, which will allow for the anticipated 220 square metres once the intervention is completed.
The official execution period is three months, although the City Council hopes to have the facilities available sooner. The municipal forecast is that children will be able to use the park again by the end of September.
The renovation will not be limited to the play elements. The project also includes the restoration of the existing fountain in this area and the planting of six trees, aimed at increasing shaded areas in a space particularly used by families from the neighbourhood.
The mayor of Ronda, Mari Paz Fernández, visited the works accompanied by municipal officials to learn about their progress. She explained that the expansion responds to a request made by the residents of the Fuerte due to the need for a larger and better-conditioned children's area.

From the City Council, they frame the work within the plan developed by the Department of Parks and Gardens, led by Concha Muñoz, to renew existing children's spaces and extend this type of equipment to other areas of Ronda.
When the work is completed, the Fuerte will have a larger children's area, new safety flooring, repaired and expanded equipment, more vegetation, and a fountain that is operational again.
