The ninth edition of the Pueblos Blancos Music Festival will bring together more than thirty bands from six continents in Ronda, Montejaque and Cortes de la Frontera, with all concerts free of charge.
The Pueblos Blancos Music Festival returns to the Serranía de Ronda with a ninth edition that promises music without borders. From July 30 to August 2, the municipalities of Ronda, Montejaque and Cortes de la Frontera in Málaga will host over thirty bands from six continents, with free entry for all audiences.
International line-up with local flavour
The festival, which began in September 2016, maintains its essence as a meeting point for amateur and professional musicians. Among the confirmed names is Joe King Carrasco, alongside groups such as Los Widow Makers, Blueroomess, Brian Ashley Jones & Melanie Jean, Donovan Keith, Robin Mordecai, Nnedimmaya, Dove Court and Tangerine Flavor.
The international representation includes the Trío Dudukia from Budapest; Alice Jacobsen from Bergen (Norway); Adrian Costa from San Francisco; and several artists linked to Austin, Texas, such as Colin Clark. From Nashville, Brian Ashley Jones & Melanie Jean will perform.
The Spanish presence will also be significant: Candela from El Puerto de Santa María will share the stage with The Brass Buttons (Cádiz), Picky Pressure (Sierra de Ronda), Slim Jim & the Redeemers (Barcelona), Robert Perdut, Los Widow Makers and Tangerine Flavor (Madrid), and Blueroomess (Barcelona).
Outdoor stages and total free admission
As in previous editions, all concerts will be free and will take place outdoors in iconic locations. In Ronda, the stage will be at the Auditorio Blas Infante; in Montejaque, at the Plaza de la Constitución; and Cortes de la Frontera will complete the tour with its own venue.
The festival is made possible thanks to the support of local councils, provincial governments, sponsors, and musicians from the area. The organisation highlights that the event promotes interaction between artists and the local population, with a programme that includes rock, country, tex-mex, jazz, blues, funk and R&B.
Among the special guest musicians are Aaron Feder (Chicago), Javier Padial (Spain) and Diego Castillo-Olivares (United Kingdom), who will perform alongside various bands over the four days.
Tenth anniversary on the horizon
The Pueblos Blancos Music Festival started in September 2016 with performers from Australia, Greece, England, Germany, Spain, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States. Now, in its ninth edition, the festival is approaching its tenth anniversary, established as a unique event in the cultural calendar of the province of Málaga.
Austin, considered the world capital of live music, will once again be the most represented city in the line-up, reinforcing the festival's connection to the Texan scene. For the residents of the Serranía de Ronda, this is an opportunity to enjoy quality music without leaving home and without spending a euro.
The festival not only attracts tourists but also boosts the local economy: bars, restaurants and accommodations in the area benefit from the influx of visitors. Concerts start in the afternoon and continue into the night, taking advantage of the pleasant summer weather.
