The First Vice President and Minister of Presidency, Health and Emergencies of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz, announced today in Rincón de la Victoria that the new Uniformity and Technical Means Decree for local police will be approved in the first quarter of 2027.
This decree, which has been long demanded by Andalusian municipalities, aims to update the regulation of police equipment throughout Andalucía.
New Features of the Decree
During the celebration of the Local Police Patron's Day, Sanz expressed his pride in receiving recognition from the security forces, highlighting the importance of their work for the safety of citizens.
One of the main new features of the decree includes the incorporation of new electronic control devices, such as tasers. Additionally, the introduction of long guns for interventions that require them is planned, aiming to improve the effectiveness of the services provided to the public.
The Vice President also mentioned that the unified call for access to local police forces will be carried out next year, a measure aimed at simplifying and improving the selection processes and thus strengthening local staffing.
Commitment to Local Police
Sanz emphasized that the Local Police is the administration closest to citizens and plays a fundamental role in the safety and well-being of municipalities. In this regard, the Local Police Law has recently been approved, updating a regulation that had been in force for over two decades.
To strengthen the capabilities of Local Police, the Junta is promoting technological innovation and training, highlighting the creation of the AWA Project, a pioneering platform for the electronic management of police proceedings.
Since 2013, the training of new officers has increased significantly, with over 2,200 new local police officers trained in the last six years, of which more than 1,200 have joined since October 2022 through extraordinary promotions and a strategy of decentralization in training.
Finally, Sanz reaffirmed the commitment of the Junta de Andalucía to continue providing Local Police with the necessary resources to offer a quality, effective, and professional service to citizens.
