The Junta of Andalucía has announced the mobilisation of public land capable of constructing 3,678 new homes in the autonomous community, including 232 in Málaga. This initiative is part of the 2026 Annual Plan for the Disposal of Assets by the Housing and Rehabilitation Agency (AVRA), which has recently been approved.
Details of the Disposal Plan
The plan includes putting 735 public properties on the market, with a total estimated value of 124.3 million euros. Of these 3,678 homes, 2,964 will be protected and 714 free. In total, the land amounts to nearly 375,000 square metres of buildable area, which will allow for an increase in the housing supply across all Andalusian provinces.
The Minister of Housing, Youth and Land Planning, Rocío Díaz, emphasised the importance of mobilising public assets to address one of the main concerns of citizens regarding housing. The largest capacity of the plan is concentrated in the province of Cádiz, where 1,102 homes can be developed, followed by Huelva (692), Granada (624), and Sevilla (551). The remainder is distributed in Jaén (237), Málaga (232), Almería (146), and Córdoba (94).
Collaboration and Business Projects
The sale of these lands will primarily be conducted through competitions and auctions. The plan also includes public-private collaboration formulas, such as land swaps, to facilitate the development of new projects. In addition to the homes, the plan includes the release of 226 industrial plots, 43 commercial premises, and 120 garages.
Rocío Díaz has highlighted that AVRA's planning aims to put public land at the service of housing demand and facilitate the emergence of new initiatives, especially in the protected housing sector. This strategy responds to the evolution of the real estate market and the current needs of the population.
The new 2026 Disposal of Assets Plan continues the actions taken in the previous year, during which improvements were made in terms of property allocation, achieving the construction of at least 588 new homes in various locations, including Málaga.
