The Junta of Andalucía invests over 9.5 million in the repair of rural roads in Ronda

The town of Ronda has been the scene of an institutional visit by Laura Soto, territorial delegate for Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, who presented the progress in the repair works of rural roads. These works are part of the Emergency Action Plan of the Junta of Andalucía and involve a total investment exceeding 9.5 million euros.

Status of the works and budget

The works in the province, which were necessary due to the damage caused by the weather conditions during last winter, have recorded an 80% completion rate to date. So far, 113 roads have been completed, 58 are underway, and 35 are yet to start, all within a total of 206 affected rural roads across 57 municipalities. The initial investment was 10.02 million euros.

The actions are organised into six geographical lots, ensuring a quick and effective response to municipal demands. With these works, the Junta reaffirms its commitment to the agricultural and livestock sector of Málaga, improving safety and normal access to farms and rural areas.

Specific actions in Ronda

In Ronda, works are being carried out on 23 rural roads with an allocated budget of 1,245,485 euros. To date, 12 of these roads have been completed, with notable progress on the others. For example, the repair of the Camino del Quejigal has been completed, with 2,100 linear metres conditioned at a cost of 165,585.75 euros. The Camino Cortijo Bilbao has also been finished, which, due to its steep gradient, has been fully covered with a concrete slab, with an investment of 31,662.93 euros.

Laura Soto, in addition to visiting the works, held a meeting with the mayor of Ronda, Mari Paz Fernández, and other municipal representatives, to discuss matters of interest to the municipality and promote cooperation between administrations on agricultural issues and rural development.

The delegate also met with the directors of the agricultural offices in the province and the coordinator of the Agency for Agricultural and Fisheries Management of Andalucía (AGAPA) at the Ronda Agricultural Regional Office to assess the development of these initiatives and other projects in the sector.
