The Junta of Andalucía has allocated nearly 13 million euros to improve 96 public educational centres in Málaga through a total of 112 actions. This investment can be seen in construction, expansion and renovation works on educational infrastructures carried out in this year 2026.
The Ministry of Education, through the Andalusian Public Education Agency (APAE), reports that 24 works have been completed so far and 37 are currently under construction. The remaining interventions are at different stages of processing, including the contracting of works or the drafting of projects, and it is expected that all will be completed before the end of the year.
Expansions and renovations in educational centres
The expansions carried out in 2026 include three actions in the province. The projects are underway at IES Fernando de Los Ríos in the capital, IES Los Boliches in Fuengirola, and IES Reyes Católicos in Vélez-Málaga.
This year has also been marked by the need to repair damage caused by a storm earlier in the year at several centres. This has led to an increase in renovation, improvement, and modernisation works. A total of 109 renovation works are expected to be completed in Málaga during 2026, prioritising accessibility in educational buildings.
Plans for educational infrastructures
All these initiatives are part of the educational infrastructure plans promoted by the Ministry of Education. The execution of these projects is managed by the Andalusian Public Education Agency, which works to improve the quality of educational facilities and foster a suitable learning environment for students.
