Andalusia strengthens its role in the energy transition with international networks

Andalusia is advancing in its role in the European energy transition thanks to the work of the Andalusian Energy Agency. This agency, attached to the Ministry of University, Industry, Energy and Innovation, participates in international networks focused on sustainable building and energy communities, as well as initiatives related to green hydrogen.

International cooperation and European projects

Since 2019, the Agency has been involved in 18 European projects, managing over three million euros funded by the European Union. This participation has allowed for attracting investments, generating knowledge, and training more than 1,200 professionals, consolidating Andalusia as a strategic partner in the energy transition. Nearly one hundred Andalusian entities have collaborated on these projects, including universities, technological centres, and business associations.

One of the highlighted projects is COMPiTE, which promotes green hydrogen as a strategic vector for decarbonisation in southern Europe, fostering cooperation between Andalusia and the Portuguese regions of Algarve and Alentejo. Additionally, the Agency leads the BUILD OSS project, which aims to specialise professionals in the energy rehabilitation of buildings.

Initiatives in sustainable building

In the field of sustainable building, the Agency is working on projects such as SMARTeeSTORY, which will implement intelligent control systems in historic buildings. Other important initiatives include EERAdata and EXCESS, which address energy efficiency and the creation of positive energy buildings, respectively.

The creation of energy communities is another area of focus, with the REC4EU project, which will provide tools to equip local administrations with capabilities in this area. This project follows the trail of POWERTY, which established an energy community in Seville, benefiting two schools and fourteen families.

The Agency has also promoted sustainable mobility with projects such as GARVELAND and T2UES, designing plans to improve electric mobility between Andalusia and Algarve.

In total, the overall budget for these projects exceeds 38 million euros, reflecting Andalusia's commitment to energy sustainability and interregional development.
