In Málaga, on September 3, 2026, the Junta of Andalucía has kicked off the political term of its third legislature with a meeting coordinated by Patricia Navarro, the Government delegate of the Junta in the province.
During the meeting, Navarro expressed her support and solidarity towards the minors and their families in Ceuta, who are facing difficulties in starting the school year. This situation has raised concerns in the Andalusian community, highlighting that thousands of people from Málaga have demonstrated in support of Ceuta.
Challenges of the province and educational commitments
Navarro emphasised the economic growth of Málaga, which has managed to reduce unemployment in August, leading to more resources to improve public services. She highlighted the importance of investments in healthcare, with the construction of the new Virgen de la Esperanza Hospital, which will exceed 600 million euros in investment.
In the educational sphere, the delegate announced that classes for 17,417 children under three years old in Early Childhood Education begin today. She stressed the Andalusian Government's commitment to free education for this stage, aiming for total free education in the future. This year, 95% of enrolled minors will benefit from free education.
Demands to the Spanish Government
Patricia Navarro also emphasised the need for collaboration between administrations, calling on the Spanish Government to take action on pending issues, especially in railway and hydraulic infrastructures. These include an investment of 2 billion euros to improve water infrastructure in Málaga.
She concluded her speech by insisting that the growth and development of the province depend on the involvement of all administrations to sustain the economic and demographic momentum that Málaga is experiencing.
