The Junta de Andalucía has delivered in Fuengirola the keys to 24 affordable rental homes aimed at young people. The event, held in the Málaga town, was led by the Minister of Housing, Youth and Land Planning, Rocío Díaz, and the mayor Ana Mula.
This new housing promotion represents an investment of 3.8 million euros, with over 1.1 million contributed by the Junta through Programme 6 of the Ecovivienda Plan. This support covers nearly 30% of the total project cost, facilitating access to a home for young families in the municipality.
Junta initiatives in Málaga
The delivery of these homes adds to another 15 residential units in a special social rental regime that were handed over in Fuengirola last February, raising the regional investment to nearly two million euros for residential initiatives in the city.
Rocío Díaz highlighted that the Junta de Andalucía is working on more than 1,500 protected homes in the province of Málaga, with an investment exceeding 65 million euros. Among the ongoing projects, more than 1,000 protected homes are included in the Málaga University sector and 505 homes in Vélez-Málaga.
Objectives and future in protected housing
The minister also stated that the Junta's objective is to increase the supply of protected housing by streamlining urban planning procedures. The new Housing Law of Andalucía, according to Díaz, will facilitate the development of these initiatives by simplifying administrative processing and ensuring greater legal security.
Furthermore, the Andalusian Government is implementing a plan starting in February 2025 aimed at building 20,000 protected homes in the next five years. This plan includes a significant increase in public investment in housing, tripling what was allocated in 2018, as well as tax measures to facilitate access to housing, especially for young people.
