The former Pascual Hospital in Málaga will begin receiving patients in the second half of November 2026. This has been confirmed by the First Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Health and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, during a visit to the modernization works of this centre.
Details of the work
The hospital's inpatient ward will be fully operational in the first quarter of 2027. This phase includes the creation of 35 double rooms and 7 adapted for people with reduced mobility, as well as 3 endoscopy rooms. Sanz has highlighted that this will help mitigate the shortage of hospital beds present in the province.
The first phase of the project, which began on February 13 of this year, includes a Continuity of Care Unit and 16 outpatient consultations on the ground floor. The total investment allocated to these works amounts to 6.5 million euros.
Benefits for Málaga
With the launch of this hospital, it is expected to improve access to various medical specialties in Málaga. Care for chronic patients with complex needs will be strengthened thanks to the Continuity of Care Unit. According to Sanz, this action will allow for the reorganization and expansion of the current services available in other hospitals in the area.
On the ground floor, patients will be attended to in a differentiated area, which includes the Provincial Purchasing Centre, the Continuity of Care Unit, and a total of 16 outpatient consultations distributed in two zones. There will be consultations for Digestive, Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Anaesthesia.
The second floor will feature additional facilities for staff, a pharmacy area, waiting rooms for relatives, and other necessary dependencies for the proper functioning of the hospital.
During this visit, other representatives from the health sector were also present, underscoring the importance of this project for the Málaga community.
