The SAS will enable vaccinations against the flu without prior appointment every Wednesday from November 11 to December 16 in Málaga and province, along with two 'supersaturdays' in shopping centres. The campaign kicks off this Thursday, October 1, with 1.95 million doses in Andalusia.
The Ministry of Health has organised vaccination days against the flu without prior appointment in Málaga and its province every Wednesday between November 11 and December 16. This measure is complemented by two 'supersaturdays' to be held in shopping centres, a method already used in the previous campaign, as announced by the First Vice President of the Junta and Minister of Health, Antonio Sanz, as reported by Diario Sur.
The specific locations where these facilities will be set up will be communicated as the dates approach. The initiative extends across Andalusia and aims to facilitate access to immunisation for those who have not made an appointment at their health centre.
The official campaign begins this Thursday, October 1, and will continue until March. The Ministry has allocated 20.4 million euros for the purchase of 1.95 million doses of the flu vaccine for the entire community.
Among the new features this season, Sanz highlighted the administration of the vaccine against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) for the first time in Andalusia to residents of care homes and to individuals with severe immunosuppression. Until now, only newborns up to six months old were immunised to protect them from bronchiolitis.

Another change affects the high-dose flu vaccine, which is reinforced for vulnerable individuals, now to be systematically administered from 75 years instead of 80.
The vaccination schedule is staggered by groups. From October 7, those over 80 years old, individuals with significant dependence at home and their usual caregivers, as well as healthcare and social healthcare professionals, will be able to get vaccinated. On October 14, vaccination will open for those aged 70 and for adults under 60 with pathologies and risk situations. From October 21, those over 60, state security forces, firefighters, prison staff, and professionals exposed to animals will be eligible. Co-habitants of target groups will be able to receive the vaccine at the same time as the person they live with, as they are incorporated into the schedule.
In the 2025-2026 campaign, 344,756 people were vaccinated against the flu in the province of Málaga. Additionally, 139,079 doses were administered against COVID-19 and 7,715 against RSV.
The virus from last season was particularly transmissible, causing a rapid spread of infections and an earlier epidemic wave compared to other years. The predominant circulation of certain subtypes of flu A, along with a susceptible population, increased healthcare pressure during the weeks of highest incidence.
