The Palace of Fairs and Congresses of Málaga will host the 55th International Congress of SEPES from October 8 to 10, with 3,000 professionals from over 20 countries and 60 exhibiting companies.

The 55th International Dental Congress of the Spanish Society of Stomatological and Aesthetic Prosthesis (SEPES) will turn Málaga into the global epicentre of restorative dentistry for three days in October. Nearly 3,000 professionals from Spain and more than twenty countries will gather at the Palace of Fairs and Congresses (FYCMA) to discuss the latest advances in prosthetics, dental aesthetics, and digital technology.

The mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, welcomed the congress organisers on Friday, led by Dr. Eduardo Crooke, president of the event, and Dr. Rafael Martínez de Fuentes, vice president of SEPES. During the meeting, the mayor expressed his gratitude for the city's selection to host an event that, according to sources from the scientific society, will place Málaga at the centre of international dental innovation.

Twelve Years Later, Málaga is Again the Host

The last time SEPES held its congress in the capital of the Costa del Sol was in 2014. Twelve years later, the city is regaining an event that, under the motto 'Disruptive Restorative Dentistry: Challenges and Opportunities', will address how new technologies are transforming clinical practice. The digitalisation of treatments, artificial intelligence, digital workflows, and new biomaterials will be key topics in the scientific programme.

More than 70 national and international experts will share experiences, innovative protocols, and complex clinical cases. The aim is to provide a practical perspective on how to integrate technological advancements into daily practice without losing sight of scientific evidence and treatment safety. Key topics include guided surgery and prosthetics, as well as minimally invasive techniques.

A Showcase for 60 Dental Sector Companies

The congress will not only feature a strong scientific programme but also a commercial exhibition with over 60 companies from the dental sector. These firms will present the latest technological solutions, materials, and equipment for professional practice. The organisation has highlighted that the event will provide an economic boost for Málaga, reinforcing its positioning as a reference destination for international congresses and high-level scientific events.

For the residents of Málaga, the celebration of this congress has a direct impact: hotel occupancy surges during those days, and restaurants and shops in the city centre and the Teatinos area—near FYCMA—experience an increase in customers. Furthermore, the city gains visibility as a hub of innovation, which in the long term attracts investments and talent. However, locals can expect some increased traffic around the fairgrounds on October 8, 9, and 10.

Founded in 1969, SEPES is one of the most prestigious scientific societies in Europe in the field of restorative, aesthetic, and digital dentistry. Its annual congress is one of the main forums for scientific updating for professionals interested in learning about the trends that will shape the future of the profession. The Málaga edition will analyse some of the major current challenges, such as improving treatment predictability, simplifying clinical procedures, and balancing technological innovation with proven results.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy the cultural and gastronomic offerings of the city, which the organisation has sought to highlight as part of the congress experience. Registrations are already open on the official SEPES website, and the event is expected to be a success in participation, consolidating Málaga as a regular host of major scientific gatherings.
