The security operation for the Málaga Fair will consist of 2,293 National Police and Civil Guard officers, 193 more than last year. Drug, weapon, and alcohol controls will be reinforced.
This year's Málaga Fair will feature a security operation made up of 2,293 officers from the National Police and the Civil Guard, as announced today by the acting Government Subdelegate, Iván Banderas, following the Local Security Board held at the City Hall of the capital.
The operation, which will be active from August 14 to 22, represents 193 more personnel than in 2025. Of these, 2,072 belong to the National Police and 221 to the Civil Guard, with a daily average of 220 officers on the streets.
Physical offices of both forces will be set up at the fairgrounds, and controls will be strengthened to prevent public consumption of narcotics and drug dealing. There will also be checks on weapons, mainly knives.
Two police coordination centres will be created with the presence of Local Police and National Police: one at the Municipal Emergency Centre and another at the Fairground.
The Civil Guard will take charge of traffic control at the city's access points and on the ring roads, as well as food safety and the control of explosives, weapons, and pyrotechnics. Alcohol checks will be intensified with daily operations, and speed excesses will be monitored with radar.
The coincidence of the fair's start with public holidays and mid-August will cause significant vehicle movement on the roads. The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) will deploy all its human and technical resources to ensure smooth traffic flow in the province.
For attendees of the fair, it is recommended to plan travel in advance, especially during peak entry and exit hours at the Fairground, and to respect the instructions of officers at the access points.
