The Literary Residencies programme of the Andalusian Centre for Letters takes place in Málaga during October with the participation of authors Elvira Navarro and Juan Gómez Bárcena.

Both authors, who are currently at the Diocesan House of Málaga, will work on their respective novels and offer two talks open to the public.

Scheduled Activities

The activities will take place on the 8th and 13th of October. The first will be a meeting of Elvira Navarro with the readers of the reading club at the Provincial Public Library, scheduled for the 8th of October at 18:00, where she will discuss her work 'La trabajadora'.

The second activity, titled 'Writing in the 21st Century', will be held on the 13th of October at 19:00 at the Andalusian Centre for Letters. In this session, Navarro and Bárcena will discuss their literary trajectories and the commonalities between their works.

Authors' Trajectories

Elvira Navarro is the author of 'La trabajadora', a novel that addresses the decomposition of the current subject. Navarro has expressed that being able to dedicate a month to writing is a great boost to complete her work, which is in an advanced stage.

Juan Gómez Bárcena, for his part, is known for his novels 'El cielo de Lima' and 'Lo demás es aire'. His current literary project seeks to explore the history of the world from an economic perspective.

This programme also includes the participation of other authors who will develop creative residencies in different Andalusian locations, focusing on emerging literature. In total, seven projects were selected from 133 proposals received.

The programme is an initiative of the Andalusian Centre for Letters, in collaboration with the International University of Andalusia and the University of Granada.
