The Historical-Botanical Garden La Concepción has been hosting since Wednesday the first European Meeting of Tree Cities of the World and the 5th European i-Tree Conference, which will bring together international experts in urban tree management until Friday.
The Historical-Botanical Garden La Concepción in Málaga has been hosting since Wednesday the first European Meeting of Tree Cities of the World and the 5th European i-Tree Conference, two events taking place until Friday with the collaboration of the Málaga City Council and gathering international specialists in urban tree management.
The opening was attended by the mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the councillor for Environmental Sustainability, Penélope Gómez. Also participating were the CEO of the Arbor Day Foundation, Dan Lambe, and the head of Urban Forestry and Green Cities at the FAO, Indra Jeet Mistry.
The meeting is coordinated by the Arbor Day Foundation and the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), along with Arbocity, Alberitalia, and Trees4Cities as national partners of the programme in Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom, respectively.
During the sessions, representatives from participating cities will discuss new initiatives in urban tree management, analyse how green infrastructure is managed, and present projects that are already functioning in various municipalities.
