The Málaga City Council and the Government Subdelegation have held the Local Security Board to coordinate the special measures for the Fair, which will take place from August 15 to 22.
The Málaga City Council and the Government Subdelegation held a Local Security Board meeting this afternoon to finalise the special operation that will ensure safety during the Málaga Fair, which will be held from August 15 to 22.
The meeting, held at the City Hall, was chaired by the mayor, Francisco de la Torre, and was attended by the Secretary General of the Central Government Subdelegation in Málaga, Iván Banderas. Alongside them were the councillors for Security, Festivities, Commerce and Public Road Management, Mobility, and Social Rights and the Centro district: Avelino Barrionuevo, Teresa Porras, Elisa Pérez de Siles, Trinidad Hernández, and Francisco Cantos, respectively.
The meeting served to discuss the resources and means that will be deployed by Local Police, National Police, and Civil Guard, as well as Firefighters, Civil Protection, and the 112 Andalucía emergency service. The aim is to ensure safety in the busiest areas, such as the Fairgrounds or the historic centre, and to coordinate mobility during the festive days.
The City Council has emphasised the importance of this prior coordination so that residents and visitors can enjoy the Fair with full guarantees. In the coming days, details of the operation will be announced, which will include traffic cuts, increased public transport, and police presence during the early hours.
The Málaga Fair, declared of International Tourist Interest, brings together thousands of people each year and turns the streets of the centre and the Fairgrounds into a large festive stage. The Local Security Board is regularly held before major events to adjust resources to the needs of each edition.
