La Axarquía Hospital, located in Vélez Málaga, was the venue for the IV Provincial Patient Safety Conference, which took place on 24 September 2026. This event brought together around a hundred healthcare professionals from the province of Málaga.
Focus on Safe Care
Under the motto 'Safe Care Throughout Life', the conference focused on patient safety in chronic care. During the meeting, the main challenges and strategies in this area were addressed, with a representative from the Málaga Patients Association also participating.
One of the highlights was the presentation of the 'Patient Safety Tree', which symbolised various aspects related to safe care. The roots of the tree represented the safety culture, prevention, professional leadership, and continuous learning; the trunk embodied continuity of care and coordination between levels of care; and the branches reflected innovation, care, digital transformation, and adaptability to the system. Finally, the fruits of the tree symbolised health outcomes and patient experience.
Guidelines and Technology in Healthcare
The conference included both theoretical and practical activities, highlighting basic guidelines that contribute to safe care throughout life. There was also discussion on how cybersecurity and artificial intelligence can be applied in the healthcare system, emphasising their proper use by health professionals.
The event established itself as an interactive space that encouraged the exchange of ideas and knowledge, contributing to the improvement of healthcare and patient safety in Málaga.
