The four finalists of the II Andalusian Circuit of Young Flamencos have been announced in Málaga. Among them is the Málaga guitarist Francisco Sánchez Alcalá, known as 'Bonela Chico'.
The finalists were selected from a total of 82 applications submitted. Alongside Sánchez Alcalá, the list includes the Huelva singer María González, the Seville dancer María Carrasco, and the Almería pianist José Carlos Esteban-Hanza.
Objectives of the Competition
This competition aims to promote and disseminate the artistic initiatives of the new generations of flamenco, allowing young people to connect with a young audience. The Minister of Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport, Patricia del Pozo, has highlighted the importance of this circuit for fostering young flamenco performers under 25 years old residing in Andalusia.
The Andalusian Circuit of Young Flamencos is an initiative that is part of the legacy of the declaration of flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and seeks to facilitate the generational handover of flamenco art, complying with the Andalusian Flamenco Law.
Upcoming Performances of the Finalists
The four finalists will perform at the gala of the Andalusian Circuit of Young Flamencos, which will be held on September 20 at the Flamenco Biennial in Seville. Additionally, they are expected to participate on October 21 at the Teatro Cánovas in Málaga and conclude with a performance on November 6 as part of the Andalucía Flamenca programme.
This circuit started in 2025 and in this edition received a total of 82 applications, of which 64 participated in provincial galas. The selection of the finalists follows a rigorous evaluation process, always aiming to highlight emerging talent and expand the professional projection of Andalusian flamenco artists.
