The eleventh International Air Festival of Torre del Mar kicks off this Friday with training sessions and will celebrate its two main events on Saturday and Sunday. The organisation has published the official schedules.
The sky of Torre del Mar will host training for the eleventh edition of the International Air Festival starting this Friday, bringing together more than 33 aircraft and 18 display units. The two main days for the public will be Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September, according to the programme released by the Deputy Mayor's Office and reported by Diario Sur.
The activities on Friday are divided into two slots: in the morning, from 10:00 to 14:15, featuring David Teijeiro, the A400M from Wing 31, the Mirlo Formation, the Civil Guard parachuting team, the ASPA Patrol, and the Eurofighter from Wing 11. In the afternoon, from 16:30 to 18:00, the Real Aeroclub de Sevilla formation, Yakstars, Camilo Benito, and Aerosparx will perform. As these are rehearsals, the schedules and participants may change due to operational or weather needs.
On Saturday, the Sunset Air Show will start at 20:10 with Francis Jiménez and ELA Autogiro, followed by Camilo Benito and David Teijeiro. After a technical break, the PAPEA Patrol will perform from 21:05 to 21:25, and the night closing will be by Aerosparx between 22:00 and 22:12.
The main demonstration on Sunday will begin at 12:00 and will last three and a half hours. It will open with the PAPEA Patrol, followed by the Civil Guard parachutists and the Real Aeroclub de Sevilla. Throughout the day, there will be 15 displays, including the National Police helicopter, the CN-235 aircraft, the A400M, the C.16 Eurofighter, the ASPA Patrol, and the Mirlo Formation, which will conclude at 15:29. The official end is set for 15:30.
The festival director, Pablo González, highlighted during the presentation that
“it will be spectacular to see them in action in the sky of Torre del Mar”referring to the Mirlo Formation, one of the main novelties of this edition with its Pilatus PC-21.
The first deputy mayor of Torre del Mar, Jesús Pérez Atencia (GIPMTM), linked the event to the municipality's tourism promotion:
“This event allows us to position ourselves touristically and within the world of aeronautics”. The local government of PP and GIPMTM hopes that the high hotel occupancy forecasts will translate into benefits for local hospitality and commerce.
The festival is free and can be followed from the beach of Torre del Mar. The organisation recommends the Biblioplaya area for a better view of the figures. During the weekend, there will be a security operation involving the National Police, Civil Guard, Firefighters, Civil Protection, and health services. Before attending, it is advisable to check the official channels in case of last-minute changes due to technical or weather reasons.
