The Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has awarded the consolidation and adaptation of the Castle of Bezmiliana, a BIC, for €746,840. The works will begin in September 2026.
The Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has awarded the consolidation and adaptation works for the visit of the Castle of Bezmiliana, a site declared Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), with the aim of recovering and enhancing one of the municipality's most significant heritages.
The project, which has a budget of €746,840.98 (including VAT), has been awarded to the company Actúa Infraestructuras, S.L., whose offer includes extending the warranty period to three and a half years. The intervention is co-financed 65% by the Government of Spain through the 2% Cultural Programme, under the Ministries of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Housing and Urban Agenda, and Culture.
The project includes the restoration of the wall, the establishment of a new access point and a parking area in the southern zone, next to Calle Castillón, as well as the creation of routes to explore the archaeological site. The surroundings will also be improved with a green area linked to the site.
The councillor for Urban Planning, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, explained that the intervention will allow for “integral action on the archaeological site, ensuring the conservation of existing structures and facilitating accessibility through suitable routes for public visits.”

The mayor, Francisco Salado, emphasized that with this action “we are taking a decisive step in the recovery of one of the municipality's most emblematic historical spaces” and insisted on the intention to turn the castle into “a cultural, heritage, and landscape reference” that enhances the tourist and educational appeal of the locality.

Before the start of the works, a study and documentation of the asset will be carried out to analyze the conservation status of the structures and the historical transformations it has undergone. The aim is to halt the deterioration of the wall and ensure the stability of the preserved walls and towers, respecting their authenticity.
The expected execution period is 18 months, with an estimated start in September 2026 and completion during the first quarter of 2028. The intervention has the authorization of the Provincial Commission of Historical Heritage of the Junta de Andalucía and is part of the Director Plan for Historical Heritage of Rincón de la Victoria.
The project was selected in the 2023 call of the 2% Cultural Programme, aimed at the conservation and enrichment of Spanish historical heritage.
The Castle of Bezmiliana, located on the hill of Castillón, is registered in the General Register of Assets of Cultural Interest and is part of the Archaeological Zone of Bezmiliana, included in the General Catalogue of Andalusian Historical Heritage. From its summit, a large part of the municipality's coastline can be dominated, enhancing its landscape value.
With this action, the Town Hall aims for the site to be enjoyed by residents and visitors, integrating it into the cultural and tourist offer of Rincón de la Victoria.
