The district of Granadillas, in Rincón de la Victoria, celebrates its traditional fair from September 11 to 13 with a procession, a speech by the mayor, and free musical performances.
The district of Granadillas, in Rincón de la Victoria, is finalising preparations for its traditional fair, which will take place from September 11 to 13 at the venue located on the Benagalbón road, next to the Granadillas Stream bridge. The Town Hall, through the Department of Culture, Fairs and Festivals, and the festivities committee of the Torreón de Albendas Granadillas Residents' Association have presented the programme.
The events will kick off on Monday, September 7 with a traditional lunch in honour of the municipality's seniors, featuring performances by Natalia Moralo and Sergio Pérez. On Friday, the 11th, the procession of Our Lady of the Most Holy Milagrosa of Granadillas will mark the start of the festivities, followed by the presentation of the poster and the speech, which this year will be given by the mayor, Francisco Salado.
The Councillor for Culture, Paz Couto, stated that "we celebrate yet another edition of this fair alongside its residents with a programme that continues to support the most traditional activities." For his part, the mayor expressed his gratitude for being appointed as the speaker: "a responsibility that I take on with pride and that will allow me to share with the residents of Granadillas the start of this beloved festival."
Throughout the three days, popular activities such as the ribbon race, the popular paella, the cock shooting, and the chocolate tasting will be maintained. The musical programme includes performances by Yessia, the tribute 'Por Camela' by Rubén Martín, and the Metrópolis Orchestra, along with choirs, verdiales groups, live music, DJs, and dance showcases.
As a new feature, on Saturday, September 12, motorcycle associations will gather before the ribbon race on motorcycles, and at 14:00 hours there will be a tasting of pork with tomato. The president of the residents' association, Antonio Molina, has expressed gratitude for "the support and collaboration of the Town Hall, the various administrations, and all the residents" to make this event possible. All performances are free.
