The project, fully funded by municipal funds, has allowed for the renewal of adapted equipment on the beaches of Burriana and Torrecilla, and the establishment of a new accessible point on El Playazo beach.
Comprehensive renovation at Burriana and Torrecilla
The work has involved the refurbishment and comprehensive renewal of the existing accessibility spaces on the beaches of Burriana and Torrecilla, two of the busiest in the municipality. Walkways, amphibious chairs, and other elements that allow safe access to the sea have been reviewed and replaced.
The Councillor for Beaches, Ana María Muñoz, has highlighted that "we continue to work to make our beaches increasingly accessible and inclusive." The councillor emphasized that the investment reflects a firm commitment to providing an environment adapted to the needs of all users.
New accessible point at El Playazo
The main novelty of this project is the establishment of a new accessible point on El Playazo beach, which previously lacked adapted services. With this addition, Nerja expands its network of inclusive beaches, adding a third adapted beach to the two already existing.
The new point features an access walkway, an amphibious chair, and a shaded area, following the same model as those at Burriana and Torrecilla. The council expects it to be operational for the next bathing season.
A commitment to inclusion
Nerja Town Hall has reminded that this investment is part of a broader strategy to improve service quality in bathing areas. The goal is to ensure that people with mobility issues can enjoy the sea under the best conditions of safety and comfort.
The project benefits both Nerja residents and tourists visiting the municipality, especially in summer. According to municipal data, Nerja's beaches receive thousands of visitors each year, many of whom have accessibility needs.

With this initiative, Nerja establishes itself as an accessible tourist destination on the Costa del Sol, competing with other municipalities in the province that have also committed to inclusion on their beaches.
