Nerja celebrates the second Folklore Showcase Villa de Nerja this Saturday, featuring a parade and performances by choirs and dances from various municipalities in Plaza de España.
The Málaga town of Nerja will host the second Folklore Showcase Villa de Nerja this Saturday, an event that will bring together different expressions of music, dance, and popular traditions. The day will begin at 19:00 with a parade through the town centre, starting from the lower levels of the Town Hall on Calle Carmen, and will continue at 21:00 in the Plaza de España with performances by the invited groups.
Participating will be the Choirs and Dances of Granada, Vélez-Málaga, Nerja, and Maro, the Fandangos Cortijeros from Río de la Miel, and the Verdiales Group from El Borge.
The Councillor for Culture, Ana Mari Muñoz, has invited locals and visitors to take part in this second edition and enjoy a cultural manifestation that is part of the roots and identity of the towns. “We invite everyone to participate and enjoy something that is so ours, our traditions, our music, and our dances,” she stated.
With this initiative, the Department of Culture continues to promote and preserve folklore and popular traditions, also creating a space for interaction among groups from different municipalities and bringing this part of cultural heritage closer to all audiences.
